Hi Everyone, hope your enjoying these last few days of summer!
For those of you who are on my facebook I know you may have seen my posts lately (a lot) but I just wanted to reach out to those of you who aren't and may like to help.
We're putting together a box of medical supplies to send to "Little Flower Project" to help with some much needed supplies. http://www.littleflowerprojects.org/
They are a non-profit organization based out of the USA who have set up centres in China to medically assist with some children who may have otherwise not had a hope at all of survival.
Their Projects Include:
1. Hospice care for orphans
2. Group educational foster care
3. Special Care for infants
4. Long-term care for severely disabled children
5. Special causes
I spoke with Serena who works at the centre in Beijing and asked her what their greatest need was and she told me about Wen and Jia who have a rare genetic skin disease called EB which you can read about in this blog post they did in the spring. http://www.littleflowerprojects.blogspot.ca She said they need Triple antibiotic Polysporin and Miplex bandages with safetec technology for the little ones with this skin disorder. I started to ask some friends and family if they would like to help and many have either with a donation of a tube or more of "Triple" Polysporin or a generic version or towards the bandages which I have to order from a pharmacy. The bandages are a special silicone adhesive that seals on the skin but doesn't stick where it would peel their skin off when it's removed. These bandages are in boxes of 5 and range from 25-80 dollars a box depending on the size. Serena said they go
threw
50 tubes a month of just the ointment. My heart wants to send them the biggest box of love we possibly can. I see the 2 girls on their facebook page (search Little Flower Project) when they post new pics and it breaks so many hearts to see them smiling through so much pain. Someone I spoke to said the pain of it is very much like what a 3rd degree burn would feel like...ouch! It would hurt to even hug these little sweeties even though they desperately need those too :o(. I just wanted to let you know I was doing this and if you felt you would like to help in any way we would greatly and gladly appreciate it as would these little children. We are waiting on a few donations of things from others, some from the States also so we'll not be sending the box for another couple of weeks. If you would like to help please send me a message and I'll arrange for pick up or drop off or send you my mailing address. If you decide you would like to donate some
polysporin, the price at Walmart is rolled back right now from 9.87 to 7.87 and there is a coupon for another 3.00 off here http://www.polysporin.ca/special-offers Note:you have to scroll down the page to the second coupon to print, which would bring it to just 4.87 a tube plus tx's. I seen the same 30ml tube at Shoppers for 14.99! We bought every tube they had in stock at the Summerside store. :o). If you would like to help us with the purchase of the special bandages I have a paypal account and the button is on my blog post below
As many of you already know I also bake cakes and use the proceeds to help with the orphanages in some form or other, I post a lot of pictures on my facebook page (at Debz Howatt-Gallant) about the little ones at the Little Flower centres and one day a friend asked me what she could do to help. I told her about what I was doing on my own and asked her if she would like to join with me and see where we felt lead to go with doing all we could within our means to help our friends out. She said yes and here we are excited for what the future will bring with creating opportunities for others to help. The next little venture we decided to take on is to send a box of 100 knitted or crochet hats and 100 little craft projects to a special needs school in Nanjing as a Christmas gift to the children there. One of the ladies I met on a waiting child advocacy site is volunteering there right now and she said it's very cold there in the winters at the school.
We have lots of other ideas that either we thought of or that others approached us with so that is encouraging us to keep it up. If any of you have ever done this sort of thing we sure would appreciate any wisdom, in site or ideas you may have. If anyone would like to share or has any questions please don't hesitate to message me.
I also spoke with Yulin from Family Outreach who is willing to hand deliver things to "Little Flower" for us in the future although Serena said if Yulin leaves it at the desk at the hotel she will pick it up. ;O) LOVE when doors open!
Thank you for reading, I leave you with one of the pics of the little ones who will be the recipient of our China Love box.
Ps. One thing that is very cool is that when you send a donation like this in to Little Flower they take a picture of your donation with the children.....those smiling faces of gratitude alone will make our day!
Thank you,
Joyfully broken for these sweet little faces.

Donations accepted here!
My friend and I will be collecting Neosporin ointment and Mepilex Transfer Bandages to assist in the treatment of Little Wen and other children who are currently being taken care of at Little Flower Project in China. If you have ever wanted to help out an organization like this but didn't know how to, this is a tangible way to put your Love into action. By purchasing one tube of Neosporin for our package you are helping little Wen and others like her who suffer from a skin disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa-it's severity ranges from mild to fatal. In people born with EB, the top two skin layers lack the protein anchors (that healthy skin normally has) that hold them together, and any action that creates friction between them (like rubbing or pressure) will create blisters and painful sores. Sufferers of EB have compared the sores with third-degree burns. Knowing that we can help bring some relief to these little children (Most of whom have been abandoned as babies) allows me to feel like my small contribution is so very worthwhile. These little angels have suffered enough by being abandoned....We can help ease some of their physical suffering-Will you join us? Please inbox either Debz or myself and we will give you more details about the package we are sending-we want to send it sooner than later as they are in desperate need of this now. Thanks for reading and for supporting such a worthwhile cause. If you aren't able to contribute physically to the package we would ask that you consider sharing this on your facebook page :) Thanks so much for helping to make Hugz less painful.
